[TW FOR RAPE]
An important read. Go spend three minutes on it.
Republican politicians are waging a war on women.
Girl Scout troop leader Kim Douglas • Discussing a recent situation her 10-year-old daughter faced when going door-to-door to sell cookies. Douglas’ daughter, by the way, didn’t know what abortion was. “It left my daughter very shocked, confused,” Douglas said. “She said, ‘Mommy, something creepy happened to me.’” By the way: The Girl Scouts, which have faced much culture war heat of late (including this guy we posted about Monday), take no position on abortion or contraception, so the woman was incorrect. I hate the world, I really do. Politicians with their “small amount of web-based research” peddle nonsense like this and people eat it up without ever fact checking it. It’s ridiculous how we let them get away with outright lying and there’s never any consequences. Now we have a country full of people who cannot think critically for themselves :/
But the uterus isn’t genitalia. That’s the vulva. Thanks for showing that anti-choicers don’t understand reproduction.
spoken like a true rape apologist
Holy crap I can’t get over how full of shite Frothy Mix is.
“See rapists aren’t so bad, they’re just trying to give people a gift.”
Y’know I dislike all of the Republican candidates (and most Republicans period) but Rick Santorum is a very special breed of smug evilness that often eclipses them all.
Er, do y’all above realise that there may very well be people who were conceived as a result of rape reading this? Disagree with Santorum all you want, but, fucking hell, must you shit on the very humanity of innocent people with it? Fuck’s sake.
You missed the point by a mile.
No, being impregnated unwillingly is not a “gift”. If you were conceived through rape you are still a person as much as anyone else and deserve respect, but your mother never should have been raped.
Yes, that means you never should have been born. But you know what? Your existential crisis is not more important than anyone else’s rights.
Apparently I’m only here because my mom didn’t have access to the pill and had to use less reliable forms of contraception. I still wholeheartedly support access to birth control even though I probably wouldn’t be here if my mom had been able to get it at the time I was conceived.
