Foolproof Eyeliner Techniques - It’s Easier Than You Think!

drugstoreprincess:

I initially wrote this post as a response to someone’s question (somewhere along the lines of “I have a really difficult time applying eyeliner to my top lash line”), but Tumblr ate it.  So here is the second posting attempt!  I hope you find it useful.  On to Microsoft Paint!

————————————————

Basic Line:

The basic line is perfect for any occasion, from everyday to going out.  It is also the base for any other eyeliner look you would choose to do.  You can use any type of liner.

Step 1:  Apply liner in small dashes across your upper lashline, ending at the outer corner of your eye.  Stay as close to the lashes as possible.

Step 2:  Connect the dashes to perfect the line, making it solid and fluid.  You may thicken the line as much as you wish.

Step 3:  Extend the line just slightly beyond the outer corner with a little flick.  This will flatter the eye and draw more attention to your lashes, making them look thicker.  Note that your liner should be thinner at each end than it is in the center of your eye.

Winged Eyeliner:

Winged eyeliner is very easy to achieve, and like anything else, just requires a bit of practice to perfect.  Once again, winged looks are perfect for any occasion, and they can get as dramatic as you want, depending on how long or thick you make them.

Step 1:  Create a solid line across your lashline using the first two steps from the basic liner tutorial.  End this line at the outer corner of your eye, and do not extend.

Step 2:  Draw a thin line from the outer corner of your eye, angled upwards towards the end of your eyebrow.  The length of this line will determine the thickness of your wing!

Step 3:  Make another line from the end of the wing and connect it to the center of your lashline, or whichever angle looks best with your eye shape.  This will be the outline of your wing.

Step 4:  Fill in the wing to make it a solid color.  Fix any edges to clean up the style, and you’re finished!

———————————————————————

Eyeliner is very precise and definitely requires a lot of practice.  My best suggestion is to have a lot of patience, and don’t get discouraged.  You’ll get it eventually!

If you do have a slip up, simply grab a Q-Tip or a flat eyeliner brush and dip it in a bit of makeup remover.  These tools will help you create a perfect, straight line wherever you need it!

Doctor Who inspired makeup look

I love this look. I hate glitter, but I could muster up some love for this. kinda. Maybe.

OK, although swirly baked eyeshadows are REALLY pretty I’m always scared to buy one… I mean if I was in the store and saw that I would just sit there and think “What the hell do you look like blended”!

Agreed
